After thirty years in dairy farming, Marjon and Gerard opened Hondenpension Sennyards in 2019. Their boarding business is built around flexibility and personal contact. Paper records were becoming a poor fit for the way they worked.

Getting the business started took patience. A difficult permit process delayed their plans, but they were eventually able to go ahead. Marjon prepared by taking courses in animal care. She particularly enjoys working with dogs and getting to know their owners. They wanted to keep that personal approach as the business grew.

Flexible care with clear arrangements

Regular daycare customers can use their own access tag to drop off and collect their dogs. The business also has a dog wash. Behind that convenient service is plenty of work, from caring for the dogs to keeping bookings up to date.

From paper records to one clear view

Marjon and Gerard wanted an alternative to a diary full of handwritten changes. They chose Aniday because they no longer had to do everything by hand. Dog and owner details, invoices and payments are all in one place.

In the interview, Marjon explains that they initially expected to manage the work between them. They later realised they needed staff. Running a boarding business means more than caring for animals: there is cleaning, answering questions and tracking payments too. Having a system that supports some of that admin helps them organise the business.

Admin that takes less time

Marjon says Aniday takes a lot of administrative work off their hands. Her advice to other owners goes beyond software: arrange enough help and avoid trying to do everything yourself. That leaves room to give the business the attention it needs.
